Topic: Something magical about your music

I can't tell you how many bands I've seen over the years (I love music) but there's something magical about your music. Even though I was dead tired after Sunday's show, I felt great. Rock and Roll cures the soul of man and there's NO sound like yours.

Topic: Thanx for making me feel young again

Man, that was great. Thanx for taking the time out of your lives to make ours better. Water Street was a good spot, smaller venue, easy to get around for a drink, maybe another outdoor event is in order? Saw you last time, saw you this time, see you next time. Can we get a differant concert shirt for next year? I beleive I heard Greg say something to the effect of "Same Bat Time, Same Bat Channel"? That old '02 shirt from the CCFL theater is getting old but we had nothing new to choose from. Got a babysitter, took the wife, best time we've had in a while, thanx. Is there a way to obtain the older out of print albums? Or do I keep sending the wife to the garage sales looking? Thanx for making me feel young again, even for just one night.

Topic: We love you guys!!!!

We were fortunate enough to be at Dejalon Studio a few years back when you reunited to record your CD. Then, we couldn't believe that you were going to be at Finger Lakes for the Missing and Exploited Children's Benefit Concert. Two years ago, at Water St., you gave us a night to remember. We thought that we had seen the final performance. When we got the E-Mail, my wife and I both were pumped. What a wonderful night. You guys were smiling from ear to ear. The audience felt the same way. I can remember Duke Jupiter at T.J.s in Lyons, Slattery's in Geneva, Gentleman Jim's in Geneseo, etc. etc. etc. To think that after all this time, you guys sounded as clear and crisp as ever. Don't let that be the Grand Finale. When I went to work and told people that we saw you guys, nobody even knew about the show. MANY disappointed fans. I told them to hit your website and sign up. Anyhow, way past this 40 something's bedtime. Just had to drop you all a note to say how much my wife and I appreciated your sharing your time to make us and so many others so happy. I am still smiling and humming your songs. We love you guys!!!! Charlie and Kim Simpson Fairport, NY

I can't believe I have found a Duke Jupiter web site. I can remember going to a concert in 1981 or 1982 to see REO Speedwagon and the warm up band was Duke Jupiter after listening to them for a half hour I was an instant fan. I have been to every record shop in the tri county area looking for anything by Duke. Finally I find this I still can't believe it Im ordering right now.

Topic: One of my great memories of 1984

I am from Chicago, and was working on a special projct for Xerox in Rochester in 1984. My wife was in Chicago pregnant with my first daughter. I was lonely as I didn't really know anyone in NY. But I was at a club with some coworkers when I first heard "Little Lady" which really getting a lot of play locally. I was hooked...what a great hook. I was a guitar player and just loved the song. All of a sudden I didn't feel so down... I bought "White knuckle ride" and 9 months later brought It back to Chicago with me. It was at that time I started a D.J. company in Chicago. When I would play the hot dance clubs, I would have 10-20 VERY Hot Ladies come up on stage with me to dance and I would play "Little Lady". I have to tell you, in Chicago no one had ever heard of Duke Jupiter. But that song got even people in hard core disco's dancing their asses off. It was requested so much that all 19 of my other D.J.'s working at the different clubs around town played it every night. It had a great 2-3 year run out here and EVERYONE in Chicago knew who Duke Jupiter was because of those great tunes with a little help from your friends at our company. I would Like to buy White Knuckle on CD..can I still get it? I still have the LP and won't let anyone touch it. My 2 daughters who are now 20 (yea the one my wife was pregnant with) and 15 both love the whole album. Yup you have a 15 year old Duke Jupiter fan...huge one. I made a cassette tape 10 years ago so we could play it in the Viper or my '69 Shelby Mustang. Problem is everytime I play that darn song, I fing my self going well into triple digits on the speedo.....oh well?! One last true story: About 5 years ago, I was walking down the street in Chicago when a guy ran across Michigan ave. toward me. I thought he was going to mug me but he stopped me, pointed at me and said "Duke Jupiter". "Your that guy guy who used to play "Lttle lady like you" at the limelight"! "I wish I had a copy of that," he said...we exchanged handshakes and went on our way.... True Story Let me know if I can still buy the CD. Thanks for the great Memories. Best regards Paul Holtz pholtz@classondemand.net

I just also found out that there is music on CD, got to get some.I am going in soon for back surgery and it would be great to listen to some D.J. on my walkman!! I really think the guys were very under appreciated, and are one of the best straight up rock-n-roll bands I have ever heard. I never got to see them live, but heard they were great. If the guys can ever get together again, please come thru Oklahoma. God bless!! Brian

I have been a fan of Duke Jupiter siince the late '80s. I was only once privileged to see them play at the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver. Never got to see them when George was alive. I did get to see Marshal play at the Samarai in Oklahoma City where I live. I have all their albums on vinyl and one promo album sent only to Radio Stations. I have multiple copies of a couple of their albums. I firmly believe they were one of the best bands of their time and was sad to see them break-up.

As a club DJ in the early 80s I loved to play the hell out of Duke Jupiter I'll Drink to You. Hell the song had a great ramp (begining) and I sounded so cool doing my thing. Thank You for making my job fun. And yes, I did spread the word and you do have some Duke Jupiter fans here in the Fox Valley. Later I drummed for several bands. I wish we could write, play and sing as good as you guys! Best Wishes to All! Shuggy1110 (Disc Jockey/ Drummer/ Local Radio Personality WYNE, WKFX, WKAU,)

I became a DJ fan while attending Colgate in the late '70s - Could not get enough. Since that time, I have been introducing the band to people everywhere I go, from Oklahoma and North Carolina, to Ohio and Texas. My LP's wore out years ago as did the cassettes I made as back up. I just ordered the DJ 1 CD - Dallas will now rock to Duke Jupiter!

Topic: homesick

I had the wherewithall in the 90's to buy the Twenty years Of..compilation CD at the H.O.G. during a vacation. We lived in the Netherlands at the time. I was psyched! I played the CD in my laptop after hours and somehow knew that we would move back to the states. The music was a direct connection back, perhaps. We wound up moving back but to Fort Lauderdale. Go figure... Growing up in Fairport, I remember the first DJ tune I ever heard (on WCMF) was Saxophone, mornings right after News and Sports with Blane Schwartz. The second was Taste the Night which I remember as the background music from an old Bennett's Pauper's Den spot played on WCMF. I was too young at the time to go to these places. I never saw you live but we are heading up to Rochester on 4 June. I just played the Twenty Years of CD again to get pumped and tears came to my eyes. I, too, hope Sweet Cheeks might be available on CD one day. I only have it on cassette, taped off of LP. Long Time Ago always moves me to tears, as does Days Between Us which I used to hear over the Swain Ski Lodge PA system. Thanks for the vivid memories through all that fine music and may you continue to be blessed with fine talent. Rochester still rocks because of your all's legacy. -Kevin.

greetings! when i asked my 8 and 9 yr old grandkids who their favorite group was, instead of some pop group that i hadn't heard of, they said 'duke jupiter'!!! after i put my eyes back in the sockets, i said, 'well, i used to boogie to duke jupiter at red creek, AND i went to school w/ marshall styler!' gets better...for their homework assignment, they had to write what they admired about me, and you guessed it: grandma's a boogie queen and knew dj. (pretty funny--conjurs visions of the 'banger sisters'.) interesting m. styler trivia: back in 6th or 7th grade, when the teacher asked the class what they wanted to be when they grew up, marsh's answer was 'a composer.' so cool--not a musician--a composer. always did aim high! (heh, marsh--it's duncan! how ye be?). anyway, so sorry we missed the reunion. dj still has many fans in upstate NY!! organizing our 40th h.s. reunion--and we all wanted dj. everyone else is sliding a hard drive into second.

I just want to say that Duke Jupiter never got the respect they deserve. They had and probably still have a lot of talent. Their music was melodic but with a touch of hardness to make any Hard Rock fan appreciate them. I listened to Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, AC/DC and so on and I beleive the DJ is right up there among those. Especially WHITE KNUCKLE RIDE. Rock On Guys and are you ever going to tour again?

Two things though: #1-I noticed that ya didn't give the history behind how the band got its name..For those that don't know the history, there was a fella who would always come & hang out at the studio where the early version of the band worked. He always brought his saxophone whith him....but NEVER PLAYED A NOTE OR SANG...just came to HANG OUT! I think it was MARSHALL STYLER who said "We named our band DUKE JUPITER in honor of that guy..He always looked like he was royalty....and a bit spaced out" #2-I beg you, I BESEECHETH THEE...I PLEADETH with you.....ANY NEW compilation MUST have MY faves "BAND IN BLUE" and The-HIT-single-that-SHOULDA-BEEN-RELEASED: "WHEN I'M WITH YOU"

Topic: THANK YOU!!!

Good time music!!! To me, that says it all. This country and the world needs more bands like you. I have always looked to music to get me through and a few years ago a real good friend of mine turned me on to you guys. My wife and I, my buddy, and my son and stepson went to see you at the Finger Lakes show and the other night my wife and I, my buddy and a couple other dudes went to the Sat. night show at Water Street. All I can say is thank you!!! You guys were thanking the fans all night long. It should be us thanking you. Thanks to my buddy (for introducing you and your music to us) and especially you guys, we now have another band to release us from the stress of normal life to the current world events. I just wish I was able to see you guys when you were performing more regularly. I'm hooked big time!!! Both shows that I saw were what REAL ROCK AND ROLL SHOWS SHOULD BE! GOOD TIME MUSIC!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!! From the Barrouk Family, Sayre, PA

Topic: Music Hall Magic

Hey there Dukes! I'd like to say 'thank you bunches' for yet another awesome Reunion show! It was so incredible to be fortunate enough to make it for the Saturday night show. I got 5 tickets, and we all made it! Not just all of us in our group, but the entire place was riding high on the moment. My only wish is that we could have made it to both shows! Your magic shone once again. And as I related to you after the Canandaigua show, you have not lost a thing. Simply awesome, incredible show! There was no hiding the fact that you all were having such a good time, and it spread through the Hall. Yeah, it WAS hot in there, but after the first set, we moved up front a little further, and got out from underneath the balcony part, it was alot cooler after that. I just can't thank you enough, I can't tell you how great it is to watch you play live. I have never seen a bad show from you! (By the way, we were the bunch in the center, back about 12 feet or so, that kept starting the 'Duke' chant - hope you didn't mind too much.) I mouthed the words to EVERY song as they went along! I checked the site, and I see that you are offering the 2004 t-shirts, but I have to ask you, do you by any chance have any of the hats left? I would like to order another one if there are any to be had. Also, just as a passing point of conversation, I have to tell you that as I write, I am waiting for a supposedly 'mint' copy of 'Begin Again' to arrive - I found one!! According to the Deejay that sold it to me, this copy comes with a press kit. I am very excited about this, because I have never seen that EP with my own eyes - just heard about it. Also curious as to why it is not mentioned in with the albums (on your site)? I did not intend this to be so wordy - but I have to say, just once more, EXCELLENT SHOW GUYS!!! A+!!! ! diehard fan - Bernie Frawley

Topic: I am soooo bummed!!

I am soooo bummed!! I can't even begin to put into words how sad I am that I missed it. I never got the word that you guys were getting back together again. The last time you got together I had plans to drive out for the show and my 4 year old son developed a 104 degree temp. that lasted for a week so I was unable to make it, and now I find out about this show after the fact. Real bummer! Please make sure that I find out about the next one ahead of time....PLEASE, I need a fix of live Duke again!!! If you ever have the inkling to put some of your performances, past or present, onto video tape, I would be more than willing to compensate you for whatever you think it's worth. Seriously! There are certain bands that have profound influnce and significance in peoples lives, and Duke's was the band in mine. Keep up the good work! Ken

Just a short note to let you know that it was great seeing you guys again. I appreciate the fact that you all took this seriously enough to rehearse for four day. That's a tribute you have paid to us, the people who love your music. The rehearsing paid off. You guys sounded very smooth and solid. It was great!!! Waiting for the next time you get together, and the re-release of your other Cd albums. Kind regards, John Schroth

Topic: GREAT SHOW GUYS

I never get tired of my favorite band. You guys did not sound rusty to me at all, although Greg did have us a bit worried there for a bit--thought we'd have to use our paramedic skills on him with that heat in the hall. Not exactly AC in there. Great Show Guys hope you can do it again soon. Thanks - Rick

Topic: WATER STREET

WHen you appeared at Finger Lakes 2 years ago, it was a step back in time for everyone. It was incredible to hear you one more time. Everyone left there happy, with a big smile on their face. We, sadly, were resigned to the fact, that this would be the last time we could enjoy your music, passion, and energy. BUT WE WERE WRONG!!!! Absolutely incredible. Friday night was one of the best times that my wife and I have shared in quite some time. As you know, having kids definitely curtails the opportunity to "taste the night." We can't thank you enough for taking, which had to be vacation time from your occupations, those nights to share your music with us. I doubt that the majority of the fans realized what it took to pull off this memorable evening. Between, work, family, and everything else, you all were kind enough to share yourselves with hundreds of fans who will always love you. We're still smiling and singing your songs. I truely hope that this weekend was not your grand finale. I know you must have felt what we all felt at Water Street: Fantastic. Amazing. Wonderful. Energized. Passionate. I could go on and on about it, but there are not enough words to let you know how happy we all were on Friday night. So, "we'll drink to you" and we hope that this weekend was not the last time that "the band played on." Thank you so much for a memorable evening for all of your fans here in Rochester. Don't let it be over guys!!! The joy you bring to so many people does not have a price tag!!!!! We love you guys!!!! Charlie and Kim Simpson

Topic: FANTASTIC CONCERT

FANTASTIC CONCERT Saturday Night!! Not sure about traffic, my wife and I left early from Dunkirk-Fredonia and got their before the doors opened, which enabled us to get seats right at the foot of center stage. Can't beat that. (I wasn't the annoying guy with the digital camera going across the stage back and forth. Just wanted to clear that up.) But, I did get quite a few good shots. You guys really outdid yourselves and it looked like you all had a real good time as well. I assume that it was your family members also having a good time just off-stage. One thing that I've noticed before, that was evident again Saturday night, is that Duke Jupiter fans are passionate about the love for your music and bond together because of it. I met so many people, each with their own Duke memories. It was great. Enjoyed the music and the entire experience. Thanks again for playing for your fans. John Lampert

Topic: 2004 reunion

Guys, It was great to see you all again and still being able to "play to the crowd" like you always have. I still say you need to put out a live CD. I just like the way the band sounds when your live. It's a little slower and sounds sooooooooooo good. Is there anything in the plans for a live version of either the 2002 or 2004 reunion being a live CD? Rickey hasn't changed except for cutting his hair (but then we all have). He's one of the best bass players I have ever seen or heard. To close, I just want to say thank you for playing your hearts out at Water Street last night. At 48 I actually felt like I stepped back in time and really enjoyed your music. sincerely, jim harradine

Topic: Awesome show friday night

Thanks guys for an awesome show on Friday night 7/30/2004.  Can you tell me what the name of the song is that Marshall said was for someone special named Anna Marie because I met her Friday night? I saw this woman with a VIP wrist band on and she was a little emotional and I asked her if she was Anna Marie and she said YES. You guys are still the BEST in my opinion seeing you guys again brought back so many memories. To bad Marshall doesn’t live closer for more shows. Still get to see at least one member perform in the Rochester area (Rickey Ellis-Me and the Boyz), Is anyone else playing in any Rochester area bands? Duke Jupiter Lives!!! Thanks Again

WHAT A FANTASTIC SHOW LAST NIGHT! IT'S GOOD TO SEE THERE IS STILL SOME FIRE IN THOSE OLD BONES. THE FOUR OF YOU SEEMED TO BE HAVING A REALLY GOOD TIME. AMAZING WITH ONLY A FEW DAYS OF PRACTICE. IT'S ALWAYS BETTER TO SEE A SHOW IN A SMALLER INTIMATE SETTING. NOW I KNOW THIS IS THE BUSINESS SIDE OF ME TALKING AGAIN, BUT IT WOULD BE A SHAME NOT TO RECORD THE SHOW TONIGHT OFF OF THE BOARD AND SELL THE CD'S OFF OF THE WEB SITE. I HAVE A GOOD FRIEND WHO RUNS A RECORDING STUDIO WHO COULD HELP. THINK $$$ DUDE. ANYWAYS, I WISH I COULD MAKE IT AGAIN TONIGHT, BUT I'VE GOT THE KIDS. ENJOY YOURSELVES TONIGHT. STAY YOUNG! Hey guys, just received news of the July Reunion, and I have to say it sure has me psyched! Just the fact that your fans and followers want to see you all on stage again is an obvious testament to what you and your music have meant to us all. Not to mention the fact that you guys are not only doing it for everyone, but two nights, at that! Excellent! Now to just wait for the ticketmaster site to post your tickets, and from there it's Rochester-bound!!! Thank you muchly from a diehard fan! Bernie Frawley Towanda, Pa.
